On March 1st, the All-China Women`s Federation held a commendation conference in Beijing ahead of the international women’s day. Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong and Vice President Li Yuanchao interviewed the award winners.
Li Yuanchao extended his greetings to women and women workers and expectation of national women`s study of woman pace-setters’ noble character and advanced deeds.
Professor Sun Qixiang, Dean of SEPKU, was awarded the honorary title of woman pace-setter on the rewarding ceremony.
As the first director of the Department of Risk Management and Insurance of SEPKU and visiting scholar in residence in Harvard University, National Center on Economic Research, at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, Hong Kong University and The University of Alabama, among others, Professor Sun engaged in her research, teaching and management with an international view and full efforts. Professor Sun also held a variety of academic posts such as The Ministry of Education College Economics Majors Teaching Guidance Committee, National Insurance Professional Degree Graduate Education Steering Committee member, President of Beijing Female Professor Association, Vice President of the Insurance Institute of China, China Society for Finance and Banking Academic Committee Member and Standing Director, Director of CCISSR, Editorial Board Member of Journal of Risk and Insurance Review, Editorial Board Member of Asia-Pacific Journal of Risk and Insurance, Board Member of International Insurance Society, Former President of Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association.
Professor Sun Qixiang is the only female dean in the history of SEPKU. She makes the development of SEPKU to a new level through her unremitting efforts.
Professor Sun also won a number of honorary titles and awards. She is an expert entitled to Government Special Allowance, Chief Expert of the National Fund of Social Science Major Projects, Party Representative of the 10th Beijing Party Congress, Outstanding Communist Party Member of Beijing Colleges and Universities who strove to be the first, Advanced Worker in Beijing, Beijing outstanding teacher, China`s Insurance Person of the Year, China`s Economy Women of the Year. She won the Beijing higher education teaching achievement first prize, Beijing philosophy and social sciences outstanding achievement first prize, National excellent courses prize, Peking University humanities and social science outstanding research achievement prize, the most respected top ten teachers in Peking University. Professor Sun Qixiang received John’s Bickley Award issued by the International Insurance Society in 2014. She is the first Chinese winner since the award’s set up in 1972. She is also the first and only one Asian scholar of the IIS board who is invited as the academic host presided over session discuss for 13 years in a row. Professor Sun is acclaimed by the international peers with a remarkable ability to combine Chinese insurance education and western education together.
